War Memorial Center

War Memorial Center was the vision of several local civic clubs after World War II. They established a Civic Planning Council whose main purpose was to secure land and build a center as a memorial to World War I and II veterans. They held fundraising campaigns to help make the 15 ½ acre community center area (which includes the War Memorial Building, tennis courts, a putt-putt course, a swimming pool, a nature area, and Liberty Park) a reality. The War Memorial Building was to be the prominent feature.
The War Memorial Building opened in 1949 with a dance hall and a game room.
Today, the building consists of a gymnasium, ballroom, conference room, and multiple classrooms.
We provide a variety of fitness and leisure activities for citizens of all ages including walking, open pickleball, bridge, martial arts, square dancing, as well as afterschool and summer camp.
The War Memorial offers an opportunity for citizens to reserve a room or gymnasium for special functions such as weddings, receptions, meetings, tournaments, games, practices, classes, baby showers, family reunions, retirement parties, birthday parties, and other family functions.
